O2 wanted to create a real buzz around a global event and develop a brand experience which was both memorable and rewarding.

The Challenge

To celebrate the World Cup, the communications giant wanted to offer customers the chance to win £5 cash each time England scored or if you betted against England, each time they conceded. To get involved customers simply needed to register a new sim & top up £15.

The Solution

Mando worked closely with sports brokers to evaluate England’s odds of scoring/winning throughout the competition.

We then worked with the brand and researched our own data to create redemption rate estimations to inform O2 of potential costs and risks – to ease the risk, Mando then capped the cost with one fixed fee solution.

The Outcome

This innovative promotion filled the public with a real sense of excitement and had everyone looking glued to the game with their phones at the ready. During the term, the brand experienced great sales uplift from new sim card registrations and created a storm around the global event.
