Where has the year gone? One minute ago it was March, and now we are quickly heading towards the end of August faster than you can say Strictly Come Dancing.
Personally, I always feel once the children have gone back to school in September, the evenings start to draw in, and The Great British Bake Off on the TV, we are well and truly in autumn. And, once the last rocket from the fireworks display on Bonfire Night has disappeared there is no doubt in my mind that we are in the Christmas season.
Christmas. The biggest retail event of the year. This year however, what will Christmas look like? It could be as if the rest of the year never happened, and we are almost back to normal celebrations. But on the other hand, there is every possibility that it will be a Christmas to forget with restrictions in place.
At Mando we are planning (and hoping) for a relatively normal Christmas and now is the time to start thinking about those Christmas promotions. Rather excitingly, the supermarkets have started to release their Christmas food ranges, (hello Ham Hock & Cheddar Topped Crumpets from Tesco).
This year the key is going to be to bring joy and help us forget about the majority of 2020 with 27% of UK consumers planning to start Christmas shopping along with preparing for the festive period earlier than usual this year (eBay).

Think about adding in Gamification to your Christmas promotion. Can you add in a gamified element with a seasonal touch, be it reindeers, elves or snowballs? We created an award-winning gamified Easter campaign with British Gas which proved a great hit with users young and old.
Make someone’s (Christmas) day
Why not offer fabulous prizes like Christmas day paid for with a cash prize or a Christmas shopping trip prize which could include a weekend staycation.
