The environment is a hot topic (no pun intended), and one we’re passionate about at Mando. And we’re not alone. According to AdNet Zero’s first report 71% of employees in the marketing industry are worried about the negative impact our industry has on the environment. With 91% saying they would feel happier at work if they knew their company was taking action in the workplace to help improve their carbon footprint.
There’s no denying that our industry encourages consumption – whether it’s running a campaign to drive sales, a loyalty scheme to change behaviour or a billboard Ad. Whatever form, we want consumers to do more of it to increase our client’s market share, brand awareness and loyalty. Is it therefore possible to make a positive impact? We think it is.
From 2021 Mando will be implementing changes to help reduce our carbon footprint as a business. We will also be implementing WPP and Mindshare’s #changethebrief initiative where we will be offering additional proposals for our clients with an environmentally friendly focus. The Environment will be front of mind with all our proposals. We will be recruiting a “Environment first” executive to review all our proposals and processes going forward. We pledge to only buy fully recyclable packaging when despatching items, or partnering with a brand where the environment is a core focus. Although seemingly small, we know these changes have a ripple effect and will have an impact.
As an industry we are responsible for communication and campaign messages reaching millions of people on a daily basis. We can take this opportunity to help drive short-term change on behalf of our clients and enjoy the long-term benefits of a healthier planet.
